Girls Spring Basketball Overview

The Blaine Girls High School Boosters program is excited to expand our Girls Spring Basketball program for the 2020 season.  We started small last year with 2 teams (7th & 8th grade) and are intending to offer teams across 6th – 12th grade for the 2020 season. The Booster program will continue to provide support and coordination for all teams.  All coaching will be provided by the Girls HS Coaches, with assistance from current and former players as needed.

We are preparing for up to 4 teams in 2020, across grades 6-12.  We will target youth teams (grades 6-8) to practice together, and for HS teams to practice together.  Practicing together encourages competition and allows players to play with and learn from others. Our plan again for 2020 is to offer two options for teams playing and it’s important to note that these decisions need to be made/agreed to by the full team (once assembled)!

  • FULL: this option will be ~ 10 weeks of practices & 5 tournaments with the season running early April through early June. Estimated cost per player is ~ $700.
  • PARTIAL: this option will be ~ 6 weeks of practices & 3 tournaments with the season running early April through mid-May. Estimated cost per player is ~ $450.

We look forward to increasing our number of teams in 2020.  We want this program to be a competitive and low(er) cost option for our Blaine basketball players, following the winter traveling season.

What’s Next?

Information Night:
A Girls HS Booster representative will be available from 7pm-8pm during each of the Girls Traveling Tryout Nights (Sep 15th and Sep 18th).  Please stop in to learn more.

Skill & Assessment Night:
We will hold a skill & assessment night in December 2019 for youth players (grades 6-8).  Detailed date/time will be communicated in October.  A separate skill & assessment night will be held after the HS season for HS players that are interested.

Note: Our goal is to maximize the number of Blaine girls playing Spring Ball, however, not all that attend/register will be offered a spot.  Roster spots will be based on skill & readiness.
