Boosters manages a number of events throughout the year to help offset costs and to deliver a quality and fun experience for our players! We aim to minimize fundraising for our players and families, which means it is critical we get support from our players and families to help the Boosters execute these events throughout the year.
After the season ends we hold a banquet in late March to recognize players, coaches, and team managers for their efforts and achievements for the season. It's also a great opportunity for players, coaches, and families to get together and socialize.
The year-end banquet this year will be on Sunday, March 29th from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Banquets of Minnesota in Blaine.
Boosters hosts several tournaments throughout the year - including four MYAS Fall Ball Tournaments every September & October and one MYAS Youth Tournament in December. These tournaments are a primary source of funding for our program.
We are a small Booster Club, however, so to successfully host these tournaments we must have parents and players of Blaine High School basketball, and NHS students roll up their sleeves and volunteer! Thank you in advance for being part of our program.
Here are the dates of the tournaments we'll be hosting this year:
Tryouts for the 2019-20 season will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, November 11, 12, 13.
Uniforms will be handed out on Wednesday, November 13th after the last tryout.
Team pictures will be on Friday, November 15th at 3 pm before practices. Pictures will be done by David Bank Studios.
As soon as high school teams are formed in November, the BHS girls coaching staff and players engage in a team building event. This event helps everyone come together, get to know each other, and start the year off right - as a TEAM.
The team building event for the 2019-20 season is scheduled for Saturday, November 16th at Camp Friendship in Annandale, MN.
Soon after teams are formed, all players and families come together to meet for a team kick-off. and parent information night This event is focused on reviewing expectations, discussing events and plans, and answering any questions for the upcoming season. Players have dinner at the event, and Boosters share the events that require volunteers for the season.
Team kick off and parent info night is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th from 7 pm - 9 pm in the BHS cafeteria.
Every season an away game is chosen for the Mother/Daughter Weekend. While all teams travel to the away game, there is a hotel stay for the JV/Varsity mothers and daughters. It's a fun weekend and a great opportunity for players and their mothers to bond!
The Mother/Daughter weekend for the 2019-20 season is on Saturday, November 30th. JV/Varsity mothers and daughters will be staying at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud on Saturday night.
Every season a home game is selected for Youth Night. At this game, Blaine Girls Youth Basketball players are able to attend the home game free of charge. Boosters provides dinner for the players and there are prizes given away to the youth throughout the game.
Before the game, youth players create a tunnel for the JV/Varsity players to enter the court. Following the game, JV/Varsity players are available to sign a team poster for the youth. Both the High School and Youth programs look forward to this night every year!
Youth night this year will be on Thursday, December 5th when the Bengals host Totino Grace.
Every season, the high school program welcomes back all Alumni players and coaches for a fun night on the court! Games are played, dinner is served, and all that attend enjoy connecting with current and past players and coaches.
Alumni night this year will be on Saturday, December 21st from 6 pm - 8 pm at the BHS Fieldhouse.
Every season, a home game is selected for Parents night. We aim to honor the parents of players and thank them for their support. Before the game, all players and parents are announced and each parent receives a small thank you from their player.
Parents night this year will be on Friday, January 17th when the Bengals host Coon Rapids.
We team up with the Blaine Youth Basketball program and invite players and families from the youth and high school programs to spend an evening putting food supplies together for those in need. The 2018-19 season was the first year we did this and we had a great turn out. Everyone had a great time and we know they will this year too!
The Feed My Starving Children event will be held the evening of Monday, January 20th.
Each season players bag groceries at Cub Foods. This is a great opportunity for players to bond and have fun while serving the community by bagging groceries for customers. It's also a great fundraising opportunity for our program!
The Cub Foods bagging fundraiser this year will be Saturday, January 25th from 10 am - 6 pm at the Cub Foods on Hwy. 65 and 242/Main Street in Blaine.
Every season, a home game is selected for Staff Appreciation Night. JV & Varsity players select a staff member to appreciate - thanking them for their support and guidance. Staff being honored are awarded a small gift from the players.
Staff night this year will be on Monday, February 3rd when the Bengals host Rogers.
Every season, a home game late in the year is selected for Senior Night. This night is all about our Senior players! After the game, Seniors are recognized individually, receive a gift from the program, and players and coaches share memories and stories!
Senior night this year will be on Friday, February 14th when the Bengals host Andover.
Every year the Boosters operates concessions for the Girls Blaine Youth Tournament. We have concessions in 4-5 locations. We love to support our youth players as they are our future High School players! Providing concessions for the tournament is also an important fundraiser for our program. The Girls Youth Tournament for the 2019-20 season is Saturday & Sunday, Feb. 15th-16th.
